General Information

Radiocomsystema is a general contractor for the construction of large mobile communication systems for a number of federallevel companies in Russia, such as Bank of Russia.

The company’s main activities are: development and delivery of communication systems equipment, designing, installation and commissioning of equipment, and implementation of professional radio communication systems.

Radiocomsystema provides the entire complex of works on the design of communication systems and their operational capability including fulfillment of the following:

  • Research, R&D, design & survey works and system projects design;
  • Exploratory design and communication systems configuration options design;
  • Designing and updating analog and digital mobile and satellite communication systems as well as dispatch and mobile communication sites and centers;
  • Delivery, installation and commissioning of equipment;
  • Programs and procedures design, testing of sites and communication systems;
  • Staff training and educational & methodical classes;
  • Warranty and post-warranty maintenance;
  • Generation of expert reports.

Licenses and certificates essential for the above works are available.

Main Radiocomsystema divisions include scientific and technical design department, development department, mobile communication sites and communication centers department, communication systems department, construction and installation department, commissioning department, engineering support and repair department, and pilot-scale small-scale production department.

Divisions’ basic engagements: scientific and technical designs related to communications, information protection and special equipment, designing and construction of mobile communication systems, and special-purpose projects.

Research and technical designs

Radiocomsystema Scientific and Technical Design Department performs research for the Bank of Russia, Moscow Institute of Applied Physics (MFTI) and other organizations. The Department employees have published a monograph and a tutorial, a number of common articles and tens of research engineering articles for various Customers. The Department employees are also engaged in teaching.

The basic scientific and technical designs implemented in 2000–2014:

  • Implementation of radio communication system experimental and test spans based on collocated analog and digital equipment, updating of individual land communication system sections to a digital trunking system;
  • Feasibility studies on the development of experimental areas equipped with land mobile digital radio communication;
    Integration into a unified system of trunking communication networks based on various standards;
  • Development of solutions on the enhancement of mobile trunking communication systems capacity;
  • Issues related to land mobile radio communication channel redundancy, including redundancy based on satellite mobile communication facilities, and in emergency situations;
  • Development of technical proposals, recommendations on providing the stability and safety in the communication systems operation;
  • Analysis of the possibilities in using the code division multiple access technology (CDMA) for the current communication systems;
  • Provision of negotiations confidentiality in communication systems;
  • Optimal configuration of antenna-feeder devices for land mobile radio communication, including the use of new technologies;
  • Enhancing the efficiency of antenna systems for land mobile radio communication;
  • Coverage area calculation procedures;
  • Microwave electrodynamics.

Design activities

During 1998 to 2014, Design Department experts have commissioned Production Projects on the Bank of Russia trunking radio communication systems installed in the provinces of Moscow, Arkhangelsk, Astrakhan, Murmansk, Leningrad, Sverdlovsk, Vologda, Lipetsk, Orel, Perm, Tver, Tumen, Vladimir, Voronezh, Omsk, Kurgan, Orenburg, Chita, Kemerovo, Yaroslavl, Ivanovo, as well as in Kransodar and Krasnoyarsk areas, Mariy EL, Ingushetia, Adygeya, Kabardino-Balkaria, Saha Republic (Yakutia), Dagestan.

Production Projects have been provided for the OAO “Vympelkom” transport network sites located in provinces of Novosibirsk, Omsk and Kemerovo, in Krasnoyarsk area, Altai Republic and Tatarstan Republic.

The Department is engaged in designing communication systems for fixed and mobile objects (cars and trucks, as well as railway cars). The design process involves solving various issues related to installation of antenna-feeder devices, installation of base stations, trunking switches, control system terminals, configuring the relevant trunks using multiplexers, modems, microwave equipment.

Should antenna facilities be erected, calculations and all the necessary negotiations are performed, and the project is provided. The project frameworks involve calculations of sanitary and safety area, area reclamation, as well as maintenance areas.

Installation and commissioning works, technical support

During 1998 to 2014, base stations in more then 50 regions of Russia have been installed, including the following areas:

Moscow and province, Tver and Ekaterinburg. Orel and Vologda, Vladimir and Voronezh, Lipetsk, Tumen, Omsk, Krasnoyarsk, St. Petersburg, Blagoveschensk, Stavropol, Perm and Kurgan, Yaroslavl, Ivanovo, Chita and Orenburg, Arkhangelsk, Murmansk, Astrakhan, Mariy EL (Ioshkar-Ola, Tyva (Kyzyl), Adygeya (Maikop), Kabardino-Balkaria (Nalchik), Ingushetia (Nazran), Yakutia (Yakutsk), Dagestan (Mahachkala).

In Moscow and other Russia’s regions more then 50 fixed dispatch stations have been set up to deliver dispatcher services.

To allocate base station antenna-feeder devices, use was made basically of the current antenna masts, whereas in Moscow, Perm, Lipetsk, Orel, Omsk, Krasnoyarsk, St. Petersburg, Ivanovo, Murmansk, Arkhangelsk and Astrakhan antenna masts have been designed and erected on the building roofs.

All the above mentioned sites have been completed with respect to their installation, commissioning works followed by acceptance tests.

The Radiocomsystema Technical Center carries out warranty and post-warranty maintenance and repair of land mobile trunking network radio communication systems equipment.

Mobile Sites and Communication Centers Department

As per the order by the Bank of Russia field affiliates, the engineering documentation for the MUS mobile communications center has been elaborated. MUS vehicles are manufacturing.

The Department, as per the order by OAO “CenterTelecom”, carried works on the design, installation and commissioning of the DECT wireless local loop in five regions of the Moscow province: Narofominsk, Shatura, Dmitrov and Mytischi.

The Department have carried out off-line tests for the installed equipment in conjunction with the equipment installed at the Central land-based satellite communication station. A new control and management system has been designed and implemented for the satellite communication stations and the entire communication system.

As per the order by Sakhalin Energy Investment Company, the engineering documentation for an emergency group mobile communication station based on the KAMAZ truck chassis has been elaborated. Two of specially equipped vehicles has been delivered.

Communication systems and complexes

The Radiocomsystema Communication Systems Department is engaged in the following activities:

  • Preparation operations on completing and testing the communication systems equipment;
  • Installation and commissioning of communication systems;
  • Preparation and carrying out of acceptance and complex tests;
  • Maintenance of communication systems and repair of the equipment;
  • Technical instructions for the Customer’s personnel;
  • Design of test programs and procedures for communication systems and equipment.

Personnel Training Sector organize and carry out training based on proprietary programs designed by Radiocomsystema, and cooperates with the Institute of Applied Physics (Moscow). Training course includes lectures and practical classes for radio systems servicing personnel, as well as includes issues related to the practical operation and maintenance of the communications facilities.

Basic topics for the training course:

  • Principle of operation, options for configuration and expansion of trunking radio communication systems;
  • Numbering plans various options;
  • Base hardware: switches and base station, antenna-feeder devices;
  • Subscriber equipment types and versions;
  • Control and management systems options;
  • Operational practice and operation of radio systems in Russia and CIS.

The above topics are used during theoretical and practical classes, training aids are provided, and the trainees are presented with a national standard diploma.

Tooling and measurement instruments

Servicing and maintenance facilities of the Company are equipped with the following instruments:

  • Aeroflex / IFR digital multipurpose devices (with mobiles and base station testing features for GSM, TETRA, MPT 1327/1343 equipment);
  • Aeroflex / IFR digital multipurpose laboratory device (with sweep generator, frequency analyzer features, MPT 1327/1343 mobiles and base stations test option);
  • ROHDE&SCHWARZ scanning receivers with set of instrumentation antenna (20…3000 MHz), spectrum analyzer (100 kHz...6 GHz).

Use is also made of bench and field measurement equipment manufactured by AOR, BIRD, KATHREIN, MOTOROLA, FLUKE, ROHDE&SCHWARZ, and WELLER.

Production Department

Production Department provides pilot-line and small-scale production.

The Company manufactured, using its proprietary engineering documentation, a models of the MUS-2 mobile communications center, as per the order by the Bank of Russia field affiliates.

The Company manufactured two models of an emergency group mobile communication station based on the KAMAZ–43118 truck chassis, now delivered to the Sakhalin Island. Works under way to manufacture mobile communication centers (MCC) as per the order by the Bank of Russia for its Central Directorate in Perm, Orenburg and some more provinces are now completed.
